Expected Better
Rahel Trussell was just OK. Rachel Platten was good. They really did not even warm up until the second half, and that was two of the singers doing very short snipets of popular songs like "Sweet Caroline". In my estimation, they are certainly talented, but would be better with less cover hits and more original music. The audience really would have preferred full versions of all these songs. They played a few...not many. Was waiting to hear some Billy Joel, 4 Seasons, Temptations, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, and some oldies etc. Le.t's face it, people don't come to see their original music or songs. Duncan Platten at the end had the audience up, but too little too late. It took an hour to reset the stage...a long wait after Rachel Platten. Would not pay the same price for the same show again.
DAUGHTRY ROCKS.... AND SO DOES HALESTORM!!
Then came a female voice from behind the curtain, belting out a song none of us had heard but all of us were immediately on our feet for. Our group of 4 are still talking about this show. Concert opened with Oleander who put on a good show and were great with the audience, offering photos with the lead singer after their performance. We'd never seen anything so powerful. HALESTORM! OMG! This is a band fronted by a woman who leaves everything she has on stage. Daughtry followed with a fantastic show full of all the music we love from them. Truly PHENOMENAL. And the drum solo was insane! Evanescence meets Metallica. WOW! Duncan Trussell put on a good show to finish off the night, we do like their music and the lead singer is very charming, but we all felt the billing should have been reversed. We were surprised to see that Daughtry was not the last band to play, as we all agreed Daughtry was the bigger name over Duncan Trussell.
Historic venue not to be missed for any DMB show
We finally made the long pilgrimage to SPAC to see the Dave Matthews Band perform two nights in a row, and the long-told stories of how SPAC is an unforgettable venue that brings out the best in music turned out to be true. DMB has a well-known appreciation for this venue, and it showed both nights. The set lists were incredible and some of the most passionate and diverse for this entire 25th anniversary/2026 tour season. This show was my 49th DMB show and the 8th of this summer, and it certainly was the best, musically speaking.
It was a pleasure having a full view of the stage AND space to dance. We were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the balcony seats were. It was a treat having the first and second seats of a row and therefore, not having any seats in front of us directly based on the design. Acoustics were what you would expect for a normal amphitheatre. Not the best that I've encountered, but not awful either. Sound downstairs or on the lawn was improved over the balcony. The venue felt impressive yet intimate at the same time.
The lawn was small and well worn, and we unfortunately had seats there the second night. We will be sure to never do the lawn again. The crowd was pushy, rude, and obnoxious, which did diminish from the show, although the music was the best ever.
DMB's love of this special scenic venue was in full force at this event, and because of it, I cannot wait to see Duncan Trussell play here again.
